Response to Reader #1

Hello :)
It feels so good to know that at least SOMEONE is reading my blog and asks questions :3
It makes me feel as though I have accomplished something.

Anyway,
a reader Facebook-ed me, regarding my previous post.

Her main question was, "How to get a job at being a receptionist"
Well, it's summarized question.

So let's begin.
The first one,

For many, it is a struggle to find a stable job these days.
True, you can find a part-time or full-time job in the food & beverage industries but what about office work?
Yes, those jobs can be found useful especially when you just want to kill time before getting your results after a major exam, but not for life right?
Most companies love for you to have some work experience in your life, especially if it's something related to the new job that you're applying for.
It would benefit you to have tried all sorts of work in the long run, for me, that was it.
I have tried different kind of jobs ever since I was a child, sometimes it was for the money, sometimes it was for the experience that came with the job.

Now how do you get a stable job?
There are a few places where you can look for jobs.

1. Newspapers
All newspapers have a section whereby you can go through the job searches. "Vacancies"
Find something that is within your grasp, rather than jump into the water before knowing how to swim!

An example,
if you are a fresh graduate, do not expect for a pay slip of more than RM 1,500.00.
Moreover, most companies will hire you for RM 800.00 as an intern.

If you have experience with the job you are applying for, then yes, you're pay will be within that range.
Unless you have a Degree, that's the pay you're stuck with.

2. Internet
Whoever created the Internet must be feeling proud right now.
There are a few websites where you can apply for jobs.

www.jobstreet.com - is one of the easiest and most reliable one that I know of.
It helps you create your own resume and helps you narrow down your searches by finding jobs that suit your needs. My job searcher was Lina, and she constantly notifies me of any other job vacancies.

The Star online also has a website to help you look for job vacancies.
It also has a Personality Test, prior to joining the website as it will be part of your resume in that particular website. There are a lot of questions but it truly does help you.

As we usually read in the newspapers, it is not easy to look for a job but really, there are vacancies everywhere, just waiting for you to try them out.

Anyway, just for you to know babe:
Being a receptionist is.. not easy but if you are diligent and hardworking, I believe you will be able to pull through it.
I think the toughest thing about doing that job, is keeping your cool. No matter what happens.
Because sometimes you can feel so frustrated with all the calls, the mails and etc.
But remember, you not only represent yourself, but the whole company whenever you pick up a call!

SO, which step have YOU reached today?

ps: for those whom are still studying, I strongly encourage you to active in your co-curricular activities as they help develop leadership qualities that will benefit you in the long run.
Also, the strong bonds you create in high school will last you a lifetime :)

xoxo
